How the MLB Playoff works
The format that MLB used in the 2019 playoffs is likely to be returned. It is a total of ten teams, with five per league.
Each division winner gets a “bye” to the LDS, and they are seeded 1 through 3 based on their record.
Wild card games are played between the 4 and 5 seeds of each league. These wild cards are for teams that have not won the division title. The winner of these games advances to LDS where they will face the top seed from each league.
Other games in the LDS include the 2 and 3 seeds.
The winners of the five best-of-5 LDS series’ are eligible to advance to the LCS series’ which are the best-of-7 affairs.
The World Series is decided by the winner of the ALCS or NLCS.
2021 Playoff Predictions
After a thrilling 7-game World Series final between Tampa Bay Rays & Los Angeles Dodgers, we now look forward to the 2021 MLB season and see who may be crowned champions.
The LA Dodgers, last year’s finalists, are now just behind the Yankees at 4.00 to be the campaign’s champions. These are the front-runners, with the Atlanta Braves (11.00), San Diego Padres (9.00) and New York Mets (11.1.00) being the outside favorites.
The Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies (who together with Bryce Harper have one of the most stable rosters in the erratic NL East), and the Boston Red Sox are all good options to make it to the playoffs.
