The COVID-19 pandemic caused the NFL Pro Bowl to be cancelled this year. However, the league was able to come up with a creative solution.
This weekend, instead of broadcasting the traditional Pro Bowl, a virtual edition of the game will air. In the “Madden NFL 21”, celebrities and current and former NFL players will compete with Pro Bowl rosters.

What is the Pro Bowl’s future?
Virtually, the 2021 NFL Pro Bowl will feature eight celebrities and players competing in Madden 21. Four people will be in control of the NFC and four others control the AFC. Both are the full rosters as they were selected. Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray and Kyler McMurray have been chosen as the “Team Leaders”, as they each represent Pro Bowl players. Each player will play one quarter of the game at a time from their home.
It will be Deshaun Watson against Kyler Murray in the first quarter. It will be Keyshawn John vs. Bubba Wallace in the second quarter. It will be Jamal Adams vs. Derrick Henry in the third quarter. It will be Snoop Dogg against Marshawn Lynch in the fourth quarter.
It is not clear whether the teams will involve everyone like in a traditional Pro Bowl or if they will just have the starters. EA Sports offers a preseason feature that automatically subs in backups. This feature can be applied to the Pro Bowl.
