Sporting Kansas City has a rich and diverse history in American Soccer. They are currently one of the 10 MLS charter clubs and compete in the Western Conference. However, they have been around a lot over the years. Kansas City may be a new city to you. Kansas City Wizards were their name for the most part of their existence. In 2010, they were rebranded and moved across state lines to Children’s Mercy Park. Sporting has won the MLS Cup twice: once in 2000, and again in 2013.
Sporting KC lost their first three games in 2016, but then went on a bad run, winning twice and drawing twice in twelve games. They were eliminated quickly after they qualified for the playoffs.
Sporting was one of six teams that won at least 10 home games (10-4-3), but they are not great at traveling, as shown by their 3-9-5 away record. Sporting will need to learn how to win on the roads if they want to be in the playoffs in 2017.
Bet on Sporting KC’s Games
Sporting Kansas City was one of the original founding teams of the MLS. Long-term fans may be familiar with them as the Wizards or the Wiz, which was the original name they adopted in 1996. Missouri’s team has had some success in the competition, winning the MLS Cup twice. They also have three Cups in their trophy collection from the US Open Cup.
This side enjoys a huge following. The construction of a purpose-built stadium has almost doubled the average attendance since 2011. Since its opening, Sporting Park (or Children’s Mercy Park) has sold out every time. It is easy to see why betting lines will follow KC. The popularity of a team and the amount of money invested on it can often cause odds to be skewed. If you see the odds are not in your favor, it is worth watching closely.
Kansas City is in good, but not great shape lately – 2010 was their last MLS season with a ‘losing year’. This means that Kansas City had more losses than wins. They will expect them to convert some of the form into actual trophies. Bookmakers have different opinions.
