Gateway Casino & Entertainment is a gaming and entertainment company which operates 12 casinos in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. It has now confirmed that Delta residents will need to wait a bit longer before they can deposit a few dollars at the local slot machines.
This month, Gateway announced that it would merge with Leisure Acquisition Corp. in order to create a publicly traded company worth nearly $1.5B.
The facility is located at the old Delta Town & Country Inn location in Ladner. It will feature a 40,000-square foot gaming floor with up 600 slot machines and 30 tables. There will also be a Match Eatery & Public House and a buffet.
Tanya Gabara (director of public relations), said that the company is currently preparing the land and construction will begin in the early 2020s. We have found that it is better to open all amenities simultaneously than to do so in a gradual manner with such projects. We plan to adjust the opening date so that guests can enjoy all of the amazing amenities at Cascades casino Delta when it opens.
The Delta-Optimist reports that Gateway had previously planned an opening for late 2020.
Gabara said Gateway will continue to work closely alongside the British Columbia Lottery Corporation to plan the layout of the casino and the product mix.
According to the BCLC, approximately 4,000 people from Delta have been registered to play at other casinos in the region. A Delta casino would also be available to a larger market south of Fraser River, according to the lottery corporation.
