Sports Betting in Yukon & Lotteries

Yukon, Canada’s smallest territory, is home to no pro, junior, or college sports teams. Bryon Baltimore and Peter Sturgeon were the only NHL players from Yukon. Three Yukon cross-country skiers were sent to the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang (South Korea) – Dahria Betatty, Knute Johnsonsgaard and Emily Nishikawa. Graham Nishikawa, a cross-country skier, competed at the 2018 Paralympics. There are very few options for Yukon sports betting.

Offline sports betting in Yukon

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation is responsible for all offline sports betting in Yukon. There are three types of sports betting games: Sport Select. These include Proline, Point Spreads, and Pools. These games can be played at anay WCLC outlet (usually convenience stores or gas stations) and are classified as lotteries. Sports betting is a great option for beginners as they offer a taster of the fun and excitement that comes with sports betting. However, the betting restrictions and low odds severely restrict the possibilities for those who are serious about betting.

Sports betting

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation manages and offers the sports betting option in the province. Sport Select is the name of its service.

The Northwest Territories and Western Canada share the same betting options. The odds offered by offshore sportsbooks are often better than those available through Sport Select.

Sport Select can only be purchased at licensed retailers such as convenience stores or gas stations. A maximum wager of $250 can be placed at any given location in the same day.

There are many sports to choose from, including football, soccer and hockey. Hockey is the most popular among Yukonians. Sport Select offers many markets to choose from.

You can place parlay wagers on two to six teams with the Pro Line market. You can place a wager on whether a team will win, lose, or draw. Only if you are correct in your predictions will you win. This market allows you to wager a maximum of $100

You can decide whether the result of a game’s Sport Select over/under market will be higher or lower than the one you have chosen. The maximum wager is $100 and you can make up to 10 selections.

The point spread option lets you choose if you think a team can beat the handicap. You have the ability to make up 12 selections. The pools offer a chance to play where a percentage of ticket entries will go towards the winner’s prize.

The money is awarded to the person who correctly predicts the outcomes. Other top finishing positions are eligible for prizes. If there is a tie, the pot will be divided as follows.

The props market allows you to put two players against each other. The winner is the player who has the best stats in a particular game. There are six options for choosing players.

You can also opt for the double market which combines both the over/under as well as the Pro Line markets. You can make up to six choices with this option. A combo market is also available that combines the Pro Line and over/under markets.

Lottery

There is a variety of lottery games on offer at the Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall. Yukon residents can also participate in the lottery offered by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation was created in 1974 by the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Alberta. It includes Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon Territory. British Columbia is not part of this partnership any longer.
The Registrar of Lotteries is in charge of licensing for gaming and lotteries in the region.
