Triple Crown Betting Odds, Tips & Picks

This year, the Preakness Stakes, the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes will be contested by the best three-year-olds across the United States. These three races together are called the Triple Crown. It is extremely difficult to win all three races, and only 13 horses have ever captured the Triple Crown.

But, American Pharaoh’s recent success and Justify’s have shown that it is possible in this modern age. A number of promising three-year olds are vying to be included in the 2021 pantheon of Triple Crown winners.

Churchill Downs will host the first leg on May 1. The Kentucky Derby is regarded as the most thrilling two minutes in sports and will bring the country to a halt. The Preakness will take place two weeks after Derby and the Belmont will close the trilogy in New York on June 5.

Triple Crown Betting Odds

After the post-position draw, the odds maker will determine the odds of the Kentucky Derby. The odds maker will predict the level of public interest in each horse and the wagering activity that they will attract and set the odds accordingly. Similar to the Belmont Stakes and Preakness, the odds maker waits until the post positions have been drawn before setting the morning line for the race.

Any lines or odds that existed prior to the official draw of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes were purely speculation. Although racebooks may make predictions about the popularity of each horse and provide odds, they don’t necessarily reflect the exact payout you will receive if the winner is backed.

Horse betting in the Americas is settled on pari-mutuel. This means that you are not placing a bet against the racebook. You are instead betting against other horse racing bettors. All money wagered on a race is put into a pool. The track will get a cut and the racebook sites will also take a cut. The rest will be divided among the winners. The stake you receive depends on how much you bet.

It is very similar to other sports betting. You can expect a low payout on horses that are popular, but a better payout on horses that are less popular.
